Weekly Rituals: Popcorn + Classic Films

by Julie

One of our recently-discovered summer joys has been the Thursday evening showings of classic films at La Placita Plaza in downtown Tucson. Every Thursday between May and October, expect a crowd to arrive with chairs, blankets, and picnic dinners to eat while the week’s film plays on a large, outdoor screen. While popcorn is free at the plaza, we made our own last night, with sugar, cinnamon, and a touch of olive oil.

Some nights we witness thunder and lightning nearby as a summer storm gathers, but the threat of weather hasn’t deterred us yet. It’s the perfect way to welcome the end of a week, and I’m curious: what are your favorite summer outdoor food rituals?

Happy weekend!
